Work Package 4

Workpackage 4 –Implementation, dissemination and exploitation (WP leader Nina Tuxen, Orbicon)

WP4 aims to transfer the new methodologies to current practice in Denmark and abroad. The leadership and close involvement of a consulting company and regional authorities in this WP will ensure a rapid transfer of the methods to end users. A protocol for field scale investigations and risk assessment will be developed and a guideline for use of geophysical methods for delineation of contaminant sources and plumes will be launched. The protocol and guideline will be refined at “the sparsely instrumented” landfill site. Orbicon will take the lead in this phase in order to make a reliable proof of concept in the real world. The international reputation of the Danish researchers and partners in Germany, Sweden and US ensure dissemination outside Denmark. The export potential for the new methods to developing countries will be explored by active participation of consultant companies in the project and a highly profiled professor from China in the international advisory board. A visit at Beijing University is planned in order to discuss the transfer of concepts to investigations taking placed by researchers and consultants in China. Commercialization of the results will be achieved through patents and instrument development. Future use of the DCIP methods demands that different types of drilling equipment can be equipped with systems developed in WP3. The potential for using the well-known Geo-probe® drilling and probing system as a platform for commercializing the equipment developed in WP3 will be explored. Geoprobe is commonly used in Denmark and leading Danish contractors are very interested in development of probes and sampling tech-niques. A final workshop including hands on field demonstration school for consultants and researchers will complete the project.
