Grindsted Landfill

Grindsted Landfill

Grindsted landfill, located 1 km south of Grindsted town, is one of Denmark’s large contaminated sites. From the 1930’s to the late 1970’s, both household and chemical waste, including organic chemicals, was deposited at the landfill. Consequently, a contaminant plume has developed in the aquifer down gradient of the landfill to an unknown depth and distance from the landfill. Several deep boreholes are located at the site and geophysical measurements, including DCIP, have been conducted in order to characterize the subsurface.

Grindsted stream and Grindsted landfill are chosen as one of three study sites. The field site has a great potential as demonstration case as several of GEOCON partners already know the area very well. See an overview report here
