  • GEOCON Knowledge Exchange Group Meeting at DTU May 15th, 2018
This is the final meeting of the GEOCON project and an opportunity hear the international partners present and see the results from the project.
  • Professor Poul L. Bjerg won the Grundvandspris 2017 - find the details here
  • GEOCON Vidensdelingsmøde afholdes hos Region Syddanmark i Vejle den 11. januar 2018 - se invitation med fuldt program her
  • Pradip Kumar Maurya, Dep. of Geoscience AU, defended his PhD thesis: "Imaging lithology, water conductivity, and hydraulic permeability at contaminated sites with induced polarization" October 17th 2017
  • Nicola Balbarini, DTU Environment, defended his PhD thesis: “Modelling tools for integrating geological, geophysical and contamination data for characterization of groundwater plumes” November 16th 2017
  • GEOCON Knowledge-Sharing Meeting
The meeting will be held October 27th and 28th 2016 at Aarhus University. The purpose of the meeting is to make a dissemination of the knowledge, which currently is achieved in GEOCON project. The meeting will focus on the geological and geophysical investigation methods, as well as their linkage to the mapping of groundwater pollution. See more here
  • IP 2016/4th internsational workshop on induced polarization
The 4th International Workshop on Induced Polarization (IP) will take place on June 6-8, 2016 in Aarhus, Denmark, hosted by the Hydrogeophysics Group, Aarhus University. Registration deadline is May 20th 2016. On June 4-5, a short course for professionals and students will be arranged. Here we will introduce the method, the equipment, the processing and inversion software, and examples of applications.
  • Pillemark Landfill
A landfill on the Island Samsø has been chosen as the second of the three study sites in GEOCON. The landfill is situated in a clayey till, which from a geological and geophysical point of view will add an extra dimension to field investigations in GEOCON. Preliminary geophysical measurements show promising results. The field scale characterization of the field site will start spring 2015.
  • Pradip Kumar Mauryafrom India, has been employed as a PhD student at the HydroGeophysics Group, Department of Geoscience, Aarhus University. He will be connected primarily to GEOCON’s WP2 working with acquisition and interpretation of DC-IP data and their interpretation in a contamination context.
  • Vinni Rønde has been employed as a PhD student at DTU Environment. During her Master’s thesis she has used Point-Velocity Probes to quantify the groundwater-borne contaminant mass discharge to Grindsted stream. She will mainly be involved in GEOCON’s WP1 where she will work with contaminant hydrogeology and the development and implementation of new field methods to map groundwater contamination arising from point sources.
  • Nicola Balbarini has been employed as a PhD student at DTU Environment. He will primarily take part at the GEOCON’s WP2 with the task of developing 3-D numerical groundwater flow and contaminant transport models that integrate geology, geophysics, hydrogeology and geochemistry for data interpretation.
  • Grindsted Landfill
Grindsted stream and Grindsted landfill are chosen as one of three study sites. The field site has a great potential as demonstration case as several of GEOCON partners already know the area very well. See an overview report here.
  • New method for determination of groundwater velocity
Point Velocity Probes are being installed in spring 2014 in order to develop an innovative tool for determination of flow fields near streams and contaminant mass discharge from contaminated sites.
